Propagate and multiply Hostas using sterile, ready-to-use tissue culture gel—without measuring powders, adding agar, adjusting pH, or pouring your own culture vessels. Forest Organics Hosta Tissue Culture Gel Cups contain pre-poured initiation and multiplication medium formulated to support properly prepared Hosta explants and established sterile shoots. Each cup is prepared, poured, sterilized, and sealed before shipment. IDEAL FOR: • Initiating properly prepared Hosta shoot tips and explants • Multiplying established sterile Hosta shoots • Clonal propagation of named Hosta cultivars • Small-scale plant tissue culture projects • Hobby growers, collectors, students, and plant laboratories WHY USE PRE-POURED GEL CUPS? • No powder to measure • No agar or sugar to add • No pH adjustment required • No medium preparation or pouring • Sterile and ready to use • Individual cups help separate cultures and reduce the risk of losing an entire project to contamination HOW TO USE: 1. Work in a clean, sterile environment, preferably beneath a laminar-flow hood or inside an appropriate sterile transfer chamber. 2. Properly surface-sterilize fresh Hosta tissue before introducing it into the cup. Established sterile cultures may be divided and transferred directly under sterile conditions. 3. Briefly open the cup and place the prepared tissue or sterile shoot onto the gel using sterilized instruments. 4. Close the lid securely and maintain the culture under appropriate tissue-culture lighting and temperature conditions. 5. Monitor regularly for growth and possible contamination. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This product provides the sterile nutrient medium used during Hosta culture. It does not sterilize plant tissue. Fresh plant material must be properly cleaned and surface-sterilized before being introduced into the cup. Tissue culture does not guarantee virus-free plants and does not necessarily eliminate systemic pathogens such as Hosta Virus X. Begin with healthy, properly screened stock plants whenever possible. Plant material, cultures, tools, and transfer equipment are not included. Because tissue culture results depend upon the plant variety, explant condition, sterilization procedure, growing environment, and handling technique, individual results will vary.
